Bio:

Yeah, I've pretty much retired from this place. I'm not going to write any more extended fanfiction, and I've taken down all of those that I had written. However, I occasionally find that the contests the Mods run here pique my interest, so I like to write things for those just as a brief break from college life.  I may also post the occasional short story here, depending on how much time I can find to write.

If you ever want to talk to me, you can try AIM or just post on my author's thread on SF3.  Please note that for some reason I've stopped receiving email notifications from SFF, so if you tried to send me an email through this site at any point after the beginning of December '08, I never got it, and I recommend that you attempt to contact me through some other medium.

If I ever make any progress with my original fiction, I'll be sure to find a way to let y'all know. Current progress: as you can see, Warrior's Blood has been taken down. That'd be because I finished writing it, and now that it's complete I don't want any of it floating around on the internet. So now it's off for endless editing, and I'll update again once I'm on to the next step.

Summary: A dragon is the boss of its territory.  Sure, there may be humans or other lesser beings hanging around, but if a dragon claims land as its own, it's in charge, period.  Sometimes humans, arrogant little things they are, don't take well to that sort of arrangement, and in those situations a compromise may be good for all parties involved.  But what if that compromise starts to break down, or outside forces work to undermine it?  It turns out that sort of trouble can be dangerous, even for a dragon. Summary: Classified by humans as a protected species, dragons are used to living on their own without fear of human retribution. But what happens when a dragon is forced to leave its kind and live among humans? As one dragon is about to discover, life can be a lot more difficult when one has to share its territory with them. (AKA Carnoc’s typical Shockingly Depressing Contest Entry™.) Well, it took three tries, but I finally managed to work out a contest entry I was happy with. So here we are: my entry into the Halloween contest.

Summary:

The Uru’Baen Post runs a daily advice column, penned by a mysterious correspondent with the paper who is only known as “Dragon.” How he gets the letters he does is a mystery; the letters and his responses to them, however, he mails to the Post for printing. (Depending on how long these end up being—and how many I decide to write—I’ll do one or two of these a day. The number I’ll do overall is still pending; I’ll write them as I come up with them. I don’t know if they’ll be funny or serious; they’re more character exercises than anything else.)

Summary: I'm not doing a very good job of being retired, am I? :P But I saw this challenge on SF3 and couldn't resist trying a few. Anyway, this story contains multiple news articles, both humorous and serious, from the pages of the Uru'Baen Post. Articles include a couple of reports about a missing dragon, an interview with Murtagh, a study linking magic use to cancer, and a battlefield report; look for a new article each day until the end of the contest!
