This is your first lesson in shared dreaming.

« on: November 02, 2009, 05:50:57 PM »

The word goes out from the SyFy Network that they are casting for a new miniseries: Eragon, part of a four-part story arc called Inheritance. So you get a phone call a few weeks later. Good news: They want you as casting director, set designer, F/X manager, costume design, score/soundtrack composer, screenwriter - take your pick. Bad news: This property has a bad reputation to live down and it's your job to make sure that Eragon is a ratings hit.

So, what would you do? Choose your role and do it well or you'll go down in history as part of the most ill-conceived remake project in history.

I hereby commision you, the users of this august fansite, to design art, scripts, casts, music - the whole deal. Let's make this project an alternate reality!

Basically, the purpose of this thread is to be a follow-up to the Eragon Movie thread. Having exhausted the topic of the missteps of the 2006 production, I think it's about time we started imagining afresh.

Have fun! I'll be checking in to see what you guys do (as well as working on my own personal cast).

Can I make a suggestion that doesn稚 involve violence?

Can I just say, right off the bat, that Helena Bonham Carter needs to be Birgit.

The Cast: (I'll update this as we come to a consensus on who should be on the cast!)

Murtagh - Garrett Hedlund (same as before)
Brom - Jeremy Irons (same as before)
Birgit - Helena Bonham Carter
Islanzadi - Eva Green

Hmm, I dunno. I'm not a huge Birgit fan, though, so I can't really argue one way or another. *shrug* Why not? If there's no dissenting opinions, she can be our Birgit.

I move that Jeremy Irons and Garrett Hedlund stay on the cast in their previous roles, only this time we write some decent lines for Garrett Hedlund.

I second that... and we should get a white beard for Brom too.

I'm just waiting for the Arya-casting debate to begin.  Tongue

Meh, no, Angela needs to be shorter and older. I'll always picture Liv Tyler as Arwen, and I really don't see Angela as the elf type. She's a semi-deranged witch, after all! She can still be attractive and young, but she needs to be more... zany.

But Liv tyler can be zany. I gotta go find a picture of zany Liv.

And my vote is for Johnny Depp as Tenga. Cheesy

Paul Bettany should be somebody. Not Brom though. Jeremy Irons did a good job. Hmmm, perhaps the king, since he can play a veeery convincing bad guy?

Ooo Paul Bettany would make an interesting Galbatorix. It'd be an interesting look with his (usually) blond hair. Since we've had absolutely no physical descriptions of Galby, it's kind of free game.

Hmm... I'm not sure, but I think Eva Green could pull off one of the elves (Arya or Islanzadi since both look 'young'?)

Hey, when you suggest stars for certain characters, could you post pictures for the benefit of the reader?

And of course, the setting must be New Zealand.

Oooh, that actress would make a great Islanzadi.

Paul Bettany would also make an awesome Durza...

ahaha, I just got a hilarious mental image of Meg Ryan as Angela. Not sure if it would actually work, but it would really be something to behold!

As for Arya... Megan Fox. And I know a lot could be said against her, but seriously (if you really think about it), she comes across just like Arya. Plus, she is hot.

AS for Eragon, Alex Pettyfer was originally offered the role but turned it down. I always imagined Eragon to look almost exactly like him.... at least until book 3... then Eragon took on a lot of Christopher Paolini character traits, methinks... which altered my image of him...
