| New Submission Requirements- IMPORTANT! |
As you all know, next month we are doing the upgrade, which is bringing with it a ton of policy changes. On June 1st (before the upgrade), we will be reorganizing the categories and instituting a new set of Submission Requirements. The entire set of new rules is on the Help page, but here is a summary: Everyone who is not an approved Validated Author will be submitting to the General Fictions category. (Note: Until the upgrade, people starting new stories will submit to the New Fictions category instead. After the upgrade, New Fictions will be put into the General Fictions category.) The submission requirements for this category will be very low. Rather than being concerned about proper punctuation and spelling, we only ask that your story is easily readable. This doesn't mean you can through grammar rules out the window, but it does mean that if you run your story through spell-check (which does NOT catch every writing mistake you will make), you will be perfectly fine. | May/June Contest - Twisted Ships |
You’ve probably come across at least one of them: a romantic pairing so completely crazy and wrong that it made you laugh (or back away slowly) just thinking about it. You know what I’m talking about—stuff like Galbatorix/Arya, Eragon/Islanzadi, Angela/Solembum, Katrina/Ra’zac, Brom/Morzan…the list goes on.
This month, it’s your challenge to write one of those ships. The more twisted, the better—you can pair any two canon characters at all, as long as it’s completely crazy and out of the ordinary. This means you cannot use Eragon/Arya, Murtagh/Nasuada, Roran/Katrina, or any of the usual canon/fanon pairings. (Canon, for those of you who don't know, is the "official" storyline--anything that CP wrote. Fanon is something that is widely accepted as true by fans, although it is not in canon--like the fact that Arya secretly loves Eragon but is hiding her feelings for some unknown reason, or that Murtagh and Nasuada fell madly in love with each other that one time they met in Book 1.)
Use any and all means to get your two characters into a romantic situation—just make sure you follow all the usual site rules (at least 500 words, mostly correct grammar and spelling, use appropriate ratings and warnings). Submit your entry to the contest category “Twisted Ships” no later than June 10.
